Red Mandarine F1 Fast Version was Sweet Seeds’ first red-flowered photoperiod strain, and it remains one of the most aromatic members of The Red Family. Listed as variety SWS79, it pairs vivid red to purple flowers with a sweet mandarin bouquet and a short flowering phase of just 7–8 weeks indoors.

It belongs to the F1 Fast Version line: feminized photoperiod hybrids crossed with autoflowering genetics so they finish earlier than a classic photoperiod plant. It is not an autoflower. The plant still needs a 12/12 light cycle indoors to start flowering, but once it does, it ripens noticeably faster.

With 55% Indica and 45% Sativa, THC at 17–20% and around 80% of specimens developing purple flowers, it offers color, flavor and speed in one plant, plus resin with reddish and rosy tones that makes for very attractive extractions.

Red Poison Auto x a Purple Tangie Clone

Sweet Seeds crossed its Red Poison Auto (SWS39) with a photoperiod elite clone of Tangie (California Orange x Skunk). This was not an ordinary Tangie: the breeder selected a rare, unusual purple-flowered phenotype with a sensational mandarin taste and aroma.

The first-generation hybrid gets its early finish from the autoflowering parent and its strong citrus nose and productive structure from Tangie. The red color comes through from both sides, giving one of the most consistent color expressions in the line.

Aroma, Flavor and Effect

The breeder calls this aroma probably the most exquisite among red-flowered strains on the market, and it is easy to see why. A powerful sweet mandarin citrus leads, like peeling a ripe tangerine, with fresh hints of blue cypress adding a cool, resinous edge. The flavor follows the nose closely and stays bright and juicy from first draw to last.

THC is listed at 17–20% with about 0.1% CBD. The effect combines relaxation and stimulation: the body loosens up while the mind stays lively and creative. It suits social afternoons, music and creative hobbies, and it never feels heavy or sluggish.

For extract makers, the citrus terpene load and the pink-tinted resin make a standout rosin or hash with a rare color and flavor.

Growing Red Mandarine F1 Fast Version Indoors and Outdoors

Indoors, veg the plants under 18/6 for as long as needed to fill the space, then switch to 12/12 to trigger flowering. From the switch, buds are ready in about 7–8 weeks, a week or two sooner than many photoperiod hybrids. Because it is a photoperiod plant, you can top it, train it and run it in a SCROG just as you would any feminized strain.

The breeder lists indoor yields of 400–500 g/m² (1.31–1.64 oz/ft²). Topping once or twice and spreading the branches under a net helps build an even canopy of resinous colas. Slightly cooler nights in the last two weeks can deepen the red and purple tones.

Outdoors, the plant follows the natural day length and flowers as summer days shorten, finishing earlier than a typical photoperiod strain thanks to its fast genetics. Each plant can produce 350–550 g/plant (12.3–19.4 oz/plant) in full sun with a large container or open ground. That earlier finish is especially useful in northern or rainy regions where fall weather arrives quickly.
