Red Gorilla Girl XL Auto is part of The Red Family, Sweet Seeds’ line of strains that flower in shades of red and purple. Listed as variety SWS89, this sixth-generation extra-large autoflower is billed by the breeder as a “Super Strong” strain, and around 85% of plants develop colored flowers.

Its foundation is Gorilla Girl XL Auto, which comes from two Cookies-family heavyweights, Gorilla Girl and Sweet Gelato Auto (SWS74 x SWS76). Sweet Seeds then brought in Bloody Skunk Auto to add the red pigmentation. With 52.3% Indica, 45.2% Sativa and 2.5% Ruderalis, it is a well-balanced hybrid.

Buds are heavily loaded with resin, with long trichomes and very large calyxes that end up completely coated. Plants reach 60–120 cm (24–47 in) and are ready 8–9 weeks after germination.

Gorilla Girl XL Auto contributes size, potency and that exuberant resin production the Cookies family is known for. Bloody Skunk Auto, another Red Family member, passes on the color gene that turns most flowers red to purple as they ripen. Together they make a strain that looks as striking in the tent as it does in the jar.

The extra-large tag means more stretch and production than older autos, putting this plant closer to a small photoperiod hybrid in terms of yield while keeping the convenience of an automatic cycle.

Aroma, Flavor and Effect

The bouquet is intense, sweet and fruity, with blue cypress and wood giving it a fresh, resinous character. Citrus and earthy shades round it out, along with a touch of berries and spice. Think of a handful of wild berries picked in a cypress grove after rain, then sprinkled with lemon zest.

THC is listed at 15–21% with around 0.5% CBD. The effect is potent and stimulating, with a strong psychoactive side and a clear creative push. Ideas flow, music sounds richer and the energy stays up, which makes this a strain for active sessions rather than for sinking into the couch.

Outdoors, expect 35–125 g/plant (1.2–4.4 oz/plant). Start after the last frost, give full sun, and you can harvest by early summer and plant again. The colors often show strongest when fall nights turn cool, so a late-summer sowing can give a particularly vivid final crop.
