Crystal Candy came out of a special Sweet Seeds R&D program devoted to one goal: finding the most curious, exquisite sweet aromas, the kind that recall a walk through a candy shop. The result, variety SWS58, is a feminized photoperiod strain with chewing gum, fruit jelly, sour strawberry, and ripe melon on the nose.

The name is no exaggeration. This plant is a heavy producer of aromatic resin, covering its flowers and the surrounding leaves with a dense layer of long, large-headed trichomes. It is a natural pick for anyone who enjoys making hash or rosin at home.

At 60% Indica and 40% Sativa, the plants look like vigorous Indica-Sativa polyhybrids, with big buds and long, productive side branches. Expect 500–650 g/m² (1.64–2.13 oz/ft²) indoors and 500–700 g/plant (17.6–24.7 oz/plant) outdoors, with indoor flowering of about 9 weeks.

Sweet Seeds developed Crystal Candy inside a project focused on new strains with sweet, distinctive aromatic profiles. Rather than chasing a single famous parent, the team selected for terpene expression, resin output, and hybrid vigor, and the strain’s makeup settled at 60% Indica and 40% Sativa.

The breeder reports that the strain took 1st Prize in the Indica category at the 2017 Spannabis Champions Cup in Barcelona, recognition that leans heavily on its aromatic character. THC is listed at 15–21% with around 0.3% CBD.

Aroma, Flavor, and Effect

Crack a cured bud and the room fills with sweet, fruity candy notes. Bubblegum leads, followed by fruit jellies, then a tart hit of sour strawberry and the soft sweetness of ripe melon. It is like emptying a bag of gummy candies onto a table piled with summer fruit.

The flavor stays sugary and fruity from the first draw, with the strawberry tartness showing up most clearly on the exhale. Thanks to the thick trichome coverage, the taste carries into concentrates very well.

Indoors, Crystal Candy grows with strong vigor and long side branches, so it responds well to topping and a SCROG net that spreads those branches into an even canopy. Switch to 12/12 once the net is mostly filled, and plan on about 9 weeks of flowering.

Because resin coats even the leaves near the buds, keep the trim from the sugar leaves; it is excellent material for dry sift, ice water hash, or rosin. In late bloom, steady humidity and strong airflow help protect the large, compact flowers.

Outdoors, the long, productive branches make full use of the sun. In rich soil with consistent feeding, Sweet Seeds lists 500–700 g/plant (17.6–24.7 oz/plant). Support the branches with stakes or netting as the buds gain weight.
