White Widow XXL by Barney’s Farm is a bigger, more resinous take on the Amsterdam legend. For decades, the pungent, skunky and sweet scent of White Widow drifted through the city’s canals and coffeeshops. This version keeps the classic Brazilian Sativa high and adds a super-resinous South Indian Indica that lifts THC to 28%.

The plant is now 75% Indica and 25% Sativa, giving it a compact, bushy frame and remarkable vigor. Barney’s Farm describes it as a hardy, versatile strain with good resistance to mold and pests and the ability to cope with colder climates, which makes it straightforward for growers at any level.

Indoors, White Widow XXL grows to 100–120 cm (39–47 in) and returns 600–700 g/m² (1.97–2.29 oz/ft²) in 60–65 days of bloom. Outdoors, plants reach 150–200 cm (59–79 in) and can produce up to 2000 g/plant (70.5 oz/plant), with harvest in the first or second week of October.

Lineage: Brazilian Sativa x South Indian Indica

The original White Widow was built on a Brazilian Sativa and a South Indian Indica, and that pairing remains the heart of the XXL edition. Barney’s Farm reworked the balance toward a heavier Indica share, selecting for larger flowers, stronger branches and more resin.

The result keeps the familiar Widow character while adding size and power. Interestingly, the flowering colas can still look rather Sativa-like, stacking up into long, solid spears, one of the quirks that set this line apart.

Aroma, Flavor and Effect

The scent is unmistakably old-school: pungent and skunky, sweetened with citrus and fruit, and backed by spicy pine. Break open a dried bud and earthy, woody tones come through as well.

The smoke carries fruity sweetness, warm spice and fresh pine, with a woody, earthy finish. It tastes like a pine log crackling next to a bowl of ripe fruit, sprinkled with black pepper.

Despite the Indica-heavy genetics, the effect leans lively. The high comes on creative, energetic and euphoric, with a talkative edge that makes it a natural fit for social gatherings. At 28% THC it is strong, so newer consumers should go slowly and let it build.

Growing White Widow XXL Indoors and Outdoors

White Widow XXL takes on a classic Indica shape: compact, vigorous and fast. Strong branches develop and widen in preparation for bloom. Indoors, it stays at 100–120 cm (39–47 in), perfect for tents and grow rooms, and finishes in about nine weeks with 600–700 g/m² (1.97–2.29 oz/ft²).

It adapts to almost any method. Sea of green works well thanks to its compact size, while topping and a SCROG net turn each plant into a wide, even canopy of heavy colas. Support may be needed in late bloom, as the solid buds become very heavy.

Outdoors, plants grow to 150–200 cm (59–79 in), and with good soil and full sun they can yield up to 2000 g/plant (70.5 oz/plant). Its tolerance for cooler weather and resistance to mold make it a solid choice for northern US gardens, with harvest arriving in early October.
