Runtz is Barney’s Farm’s take on the candy-sweet hybrid that started in California, built from Original Z and Gelato. The split is a straight 50% Indica and 50% Sativa, and THC is listed at up to 29%, so this is a high-potency hybrid with a flavor built like a bag of fruit candy.

It is also quick. Indoor plants finish in just 55–60 days and stay compact at 90–110 cm (35–43 in), which makes Runtz an easy fit for small tents and growers who want more harvests per year.

The aroma mixes tropical fruit with sweet candy, and a diesel thread runs underneath to keep it from feeling one-note. Late in bloom a sour citrus edge appears and lingers in the jar.

Growing Runtz Indoors and Outdoors

Indoors, Runtz finishes in 55–60 days after the switch to 12/12 and stays at 90–110 cm (35–43 in). Its compact frame works well in sea of green setups with many small plants, or in a SCROG with a few topped plants filling the screen. Either way, even light across the canopy pays off in bud density.

Feed moderately and watch humidity in the last two weeks, since the dense, resinous buds can trap moisture. Good air exchange and a carbon filter are a must, because the candy-and-diesel smell gets loud.

Outdoors, plants reach 150–180 cm (59–71 in) and can yield up to 1,500 g (52.9 oz) each in full sun. Harvest falls in the third to fourth week of September in the Northern Hemisphere, ahead of most autumn rain.
