Think Different Auto is one of the strains that convinced skeptical photoperiod growers to take autoflowers seriously. In the early years, many autos stayed small and fell short of their photoperiod parents on potency. Dutch Passion built Think Different from a special AK47 hybrid called AK420, aiming for an auto that could hold its own on yield and quality. It became a bestseller within a year of release and is still a favorite for many home growers.

Its reputation rests on sheer size. Under the right conditions, this Sativa-dominant auto becomes a large, wide plant loaded from top to bottom with long, thick colas. Dutch Passion gives it an XXL yield rating and reports that it can exceed 500 g/m² (1.64 oz/ft²) indoors, especially in a SCROG under strong lights.

As an autoflower, it starts blooming on its own, with no 12/12 switch required. Expect roughly 12-13 weeks from seed to harvest, a little longer than compact Indica autos, which helps explain the extra weight. Dutch Passion recommends 20/4 from start to finish.

Aroma, Flavor, and an Energetic Up-High

Think Different doesn’t hit the nose as hard as a pure Kush or Haze. Instead, it offers a subtle, balanced bouquet of citrus, mint, pine and gentle sweetness. The smoke is fresh and fruity, making it an easy, enjoyable daily option.

Don’t mistake the soft aroma for a mild effect. With THC around 15-20%, it delivers a strong, long-lasting high. Smaller amounts bring a bright, social and energetic head high that works well during the day; larger amounts move toward a heavier, physical stone that may keep you on the couch.

The buds are large hybrid colas, long and thick rather than ultra-dense, and they come in abundance. Few autos match it for sheer volume, which is exactly why it has stayed in Dutch Passion’s lineup for so long.

Growing Think Different Autoflower Seeds

Think Different is a true all-rounder. It handles soil, coco and hydro, indoors, outdoors and in greenhouses. It is also a light feeder, so efficient LED lighting helps it reach its full potential. The biggest results come from hydro paired with modern LEDs, but a mix of coco, soil and organic nutrients in a large air pot comes surprisingly close.

Use a container of at least 20-25 L (5.3-6.6 gal). Air pots, fabric pots or root pouches air-prune the roots and speed up growth. Dutch Passion recommends 20/4 throughout. Growers also report success with 24/0, but the breeder prefers giving the plant a four-hour rest.

Unlike most autos, Think Different responds well to topping, fimming, cropping and supercropping. Its long, flexible branches can fill a SCROG screen, and one plant or just a few per square meter can cover the space. In small pots it stays compact enough that no training is needed; in that case, skip topping.

Average height is about 1 m (39 in), with more in hydro or very large pots. Newer growers can reach roughly 100 g (3.5 oz) of dry flower per plant, and experienced growers can harvest several hundred grams. The largest plants may need an extra 1-2 weeks to ripen fully, so don’t cut them down early.
