Frisian Dew by Dutch Passion is a feminized outdoor hybrid built from a female Super Skunk crossed with a male Purple Star. The breeding work took place over many generations in Friesland, in the far north of the Netherlands, and the result is a vigorous, weather-proof plant with heavy yields and purple-tinted buds. It is the top seller in Dutch Passion’s Dutch Outdoor range.
The awards back up the reputation. Frisian Dew won first place at the 2008 Highlife Cup in the Netherlands and took third place in the Dutch Hash category at the 2018 Homegrown Cup.
This is a plant that loves space. In the right conditions she can grow 300-400 cm (118-157 in) tall, and specimens of 350 cm (138 in) tall and wide are not unusual. Hybrid vigor drives fast growth and thick stems that rarely snap. Beginners can harvest a few hundred grams per plant, and in expert hands outdoor and greenhouse plants can produce several kilograms of dried flowers each.
Flowering takes around 8 weeks, and at Dutch latitudes harvest lands between late September and late October, with greenhouse plants often finishing a little sooner.
Purple Colors, Fruity Flavor, and a Hybrid High
About half of the plants show purple hues in the tops, some go fully purple, and others stay green. Dutch Passion singles out the light purple phenotype as one with great potential and flavor. The buds are long and fat with a favorable flower-to-leaf ratio, which makes trimming easier.
The flavor ranges from forest fruits and a hint of lemon to pine and lavender, all fresh and floral. Some phenotypes lean toward earth, herbs and a touch of ammonia, a nod to the Skunk side of the family.
The effect is a strong hybrid: a creative, energetic lift at first, then a heavy body stone if you keep going. Harvest a little earlier for a brighter, more Sativa-like buzz, or wait for more amber trichomes if you prefer a heavier, more relaxing finish.
Growing Frisian Dew Feminized Seeds
Frisian Dew is easy to grow and handles cold and wet as well as hot and dry weather. Start seeds indoors under 18/6 light for about 3-6 weeks so plants are strong enough to survive pests and weather once outside. She is suited for outdoor gardens and greenhouses only, not indoor rooms.
She responds well to LST, supercropping, pruning, pinching and fimming, which make her shorter and bushier with lots of side colas. Organic soil helps maximize flavor and plant health. In mid and late bloom, pick out dead leaves from the thick buds to avoid top rot. Remember that the final weeks add the most weight, so do not cut too early.
