Desfran is a genuine jungle Sativa with a trophy cabinet to prove it. The line traces back to Alberto, an Argentine master breeder and the owner of Haze magazine, whose Destroyer was originally a three-way blend of Mexican Oaxaca, Colombian Punto Rojo and Meao Thai landraces. Dutch Passion’s first collaboration with him brought a Destroyer x Destroyer selection to a wider audience under the name Desfran.
Alberto’s Destroyer genetics collected a long string of South American awards, among them first place outdoor at the 2009 Copa Del Plata, Champion at the 2011 Copa del Mar, and both Most Potency and Most Flavor at the 2012 Copa Río de Janeiro. Since joining Dutch Passion’s catalog, Desfran has added second place outdoor at the 2015 Copa Cannabis Uruguay, plus first Sativa at the 2019 Copa Medellin in Colombia and first Solvent at the 2019 Copa del Eden in Argentina.
What sets her apart from most pure Sativas is speed and weight. Many plants finish in 9-10 weeks of bloom, with slower phenotypes going to 12, and indoor yields of 500-600 g/m² (1.64-1.97 oz/ft²) are typical, reaching around 750 g/m² (2.46 oz/ft²) in skilled hands. The buds are unexpectedly dense for a Sativa; dried, they look like glazed pinecones with classic foxtail tips.
Flavor, Effects, and a Fruit-Orchard Aroma
Walk into a flowering Desfran room and it smells like an orchard: fresh pear and crisp green apple, with some phenotypes drifting toward pineapple and melon. Under the fruit sits a sweet layer of caramel and honey, and the wider profile carries woody, spicy, earthy and floral notes that hang around long after you leave.
On the palate she is tropical, pear-and-caramel sweet with touches of grapefruit and melon, finishing sour, fresh and a little spicy on the exhale. Even in veg, a firm rub of the stem releases a strong fruity scent.
THC usually lands around 20%, with some phenotypes going higher. The effect is the reason Sativa lovers seek her out: a bright, clear up-high with plenty of focus, alertness, sociability and creativity, and no couch-lock. Harvest early with mostly clear trichomes for a more cerebral, almost psychedelic edge; harvest later for sweeter flavor and a heavier punch, living up to the Destroyer name.
Growing Desfran: Stretch, Light and Feeding
Desfran grows fast and needs little food in veg. Give her roomy containers, ideally in soil, and she will produce new branches quickly. Once the lights flip to 12/12 she typically stretches 200-300% and can keep going for 3-5 weeks, so untrained plants in big pots commonly reach 1.5-2 m (59-79 in) indoors.
That makes her an outstanding SCROG candidate: her thin leaves and eager branching fill a screen with little effort. She also suits a quick sea-of-green, where a week of 18/6 (or even 12/12 straight from seed) gives a seed-to-harvest cycle of about 2.5-3 months. Bending, snapping and supercropping in the first two weeks of flower keep height under control.
She is a light-hungry plant that makes excellent use of strong LEDs, but a demanding feeder: start below your usual nutrient dose and increase very gradually. Heat of 30-35 °C (86-95 °F) is tolerated, though aiming for a maximum of 27-29 °C (81-84 °F) indoors keeps buds tighter.
Because of her long bloom, Dutch Passion does not recommend her for outdoor growing in temperate climates. In hot, sunny, near-equatorial conditions or a controlled greenhouse she can turn into a giant of 4-5 m (13.1-16.4 ft) and about as wide.

FAQ
What are the genetics behind Desfran?
Desfran is Destroyer x Destroyer, a selection from Argentine breeder Alberto. Destroyer itself was created from Mexican Oaxaca, Colombian Punto Rojo and Meao Thai Sativa landraces.
Which awards has Desfran won?
Alberto’s Destroyer line won many South American cups, including Most Potency and Most Flavor at the 2012 Copa Río de Janeiro. Since joining Dutch Passion’s catalog, Desfran took 2nd Outdoor at the 2015 Copa Cannabis Uruguay, 1st Sativa at the 2019 Copa Medellin and 1st Solvent at the 2019 Copa del Eden.
How long does Desfran take to flower?
Between 9 and 12 weeks. Most phenotypes are ready in 9-10 weeks, which is quick for a near-pure Sativa, while slower plants may need the full 12.
How tall does Desfran grow indoors?
She can triple her height after the switch to 12/12, so untrained plants in large pots often reach 1.5-2 m (59-79 in). SCROG, early topping and supercropping keep her manageable.
Is Desfran suitable for beginners?
First-time growers can succeed, but she rewards experience. She needs lighter feeding than most strains and careful stretch management, so expect the highest yields once you have grown a classic Sativa before.
