Mimosa Punch Auto was built for one thing above all: terpenes. Dutch Passion’s breeders started with Mimosa, the award-winning clone-only strain from North America made from Clementine x Purple Punch, and crossed it with an autoflowering Purple Punch. When the finished plants went through terpene analysis, the levels of the dominant compounds were the highest the team had ever measured in an autoflower.
The judges noticed too. Shortly after its official launch, Mimosa Punch Auto took 2nd prize in the Autoflower category at the 2022 Highlife Cup in the Netherlands, praised for its unique terpene profile and potency.
As an autoflower it needs no light-schedule change. Grow it under 20/4 or 18/6 from start to finish, and most plants are ready in about 10-12 weeks from seed. Typical plants stay at 50-100 cm (20-39 in), yet they produce firm, compact buds and around 400-500 g/m² (1.31-1.64 oz/ft²) indoors.
Some phenotypes are true giants, and every one of them smells incredible.
Terpenes, Flavor, and the Mimosa Punch High
The dominant terpenes are beta-myrcene, beta-pinene, terpinolene and beta-caryophyllene, and together they create a fruity, sour, diesel-tinged profile with a creamy edge. Many growers compare it to a blend of Purple Punch, Tangie and NYC Diesel.
Phenotypes vary in the details. Some lean fresh and sour with tangerine and orange peel; others show a hazy note or even sour green apple. The good news is that the smoke tastes exactly like the plant smells, so the flavor holds up from grow room to jar.
The effect is powerful yet relaxing. It opens with a refreshing, uplifting lift that lets you settle into your own zone, often with fits of laughter, then eases body and mind into a deep calm. It suits reading, time outdoors, a lazy couch session or an evening around a campfire with friends. Go easy at first: in large amounts it can be overpowering.
Growing Mimosa Punch Autoflower Seeds
Most plants are medium-sized with strong, stiff branches and good internode spacing, forming the classic Dutch Passion auto layout of a big central cola surrounded by sturdy side branches. For the first 3-4 weeks they grow mainly sideways, then stretch upward from weeks 4-5.
Expect some variation. While most plants stay at 50-100 cm (20-39 in) and finish in 70-80 days, XXL phenotypes can reach 150-200 cm (59-79 in), especially in big pots or hydro under strong LEDs, and need 1-2 extra weeks (12-13 weeks in total, around 90-100 days). To keep those big ones in check, train or supercrop early and use slightly smaller pots of around 12-15 L (3.2-4 gal).
Yields are strong for an L-rated auto: around 400-500 g/m² (1.31-1.64 oz/ft²) for most growers, and experienced growers using powerful LEDs and hydro can reach 600-750 g/m² (1.97-2.46 oz/ft²). Outdoors, plan on 50-100 g (1.8-3.5 oz) per plant, and more for the right phenotype in dry, sunny weather.
The smell is intense from early bloom, so run good carbon filters for the entire grow. Outdoors, choose the three driest, sunniest months and shelter plants from long spells of rain and cold. Organic or vegan nutrients bring out the fullest flavor, though it also performs very well in hydro.
