Critical Orange Punch Auto by Dutch Passion is the autoflowering version of the citrus-heavy Critical Orange Punch, and the first Dutch Passion auto built on Critical genetics. Orange Punch (Grandaddy Purple x Orange Bud) supplied flavor and potency, and an elite XXL Auto Kritical Bilbo supplied the yield. The result is an easy, very high THC autoflower that delivers XXL harvests in just 10-12 weeks from seed.

High Times judges were impressed enough to include Critical Orange Punch Auto in their Top 10 strains of 2018, a rare mark for an autoflower that combines heavy yield, strong potency and a genuinely tasty terpene profile.

Because she flowers automatically with age, there is no need to switch the lights to 12/12. Indoors she runs about 75 days from seed to harvest and thrives under 20 hours of light per day (20/4), though 18/6 also works. Outdoors, plan on about 85-90 days, with the longest, heaviest phenotypes needing up to 100 days. That speed makes it possible to fit multiple outdoor harvests into one warm season.

Indoor yields average 450-600 g/m² (1.47-1.97 oz/ft²), and skilled growers with top gear can pass 700 g/m² (2.29 oz/ft²).

Citrus, Orange, and Hash With a Euphoric Lift

Like her photoperiod parent, this auto is all about flavor. The aroma is sweet and sour citrus, orange and tangerine, sometimes with earthy and piney undertones. On the inhale you get citrus, orange and lemon, and many people also notice an earthy hash note that makes the smoke stand out. Indoors, the buds carry a skunky citrus flavor with a rich Afghan hash aroma.

The high is euphoric and long-lasting, often several hours. It starts with energy and creativity, adds fun and laughter, and brings a pleasant relaxing side that is a little stronger in some plants. It is not a couch-lock strain. Expect the munchies.

Growing Critical Orange Punch Auto Seeds

This is a compact-to-medium autoflower that still grows bigger than many autos. Indoors, plants usually reach 70-100 cm (28-39 in), and in the best conditions some reach 100-125 cm (39-49 in). She grows fast during the first 5-7 weeks and builds a thick main cola with heavy side branches. Blooms of 30-50 cm (11.8-19.7 in) are common, so support the heaviest branches around weeks 9-10.

For best results, germinate directly in a large final pot of 30-50 L (7.9-13.2 gal), or transplant right after germination, as autos have little time to recover from stress. She needs no special techniques, but LST, topping, fimming and bending can push yields higher. SCROG is possible, though Dutch Passion usually does not recommend it for autos; SOG and natural growth also give excellent results.

Outdoors, she prefers a dry, sunny, Mediterranean-style climate. Keep the plants as dry as possible late in bloom, use a rain cover if needed, and ventilate greenhouses well. The dense, resinous buds have few leaves, so trimming is fast and the trim makes excellent scissor hash.
