Bruce Banner takes its name from a comic book scientist with a famously short fuse, and the plant lives up to the reference. It starts out looking like a well-mannered hybrid, then swells into a powerhouse loaded with up to 32% THC, a sweet strawberry-and-diesel nose, and thick crystal coverage. Barney’s Farm’s version is a 60% Sativa / 40% Indica feminized cross built on Strawberry Diesel and OG Kush.
Mature flowers are large and dense, with green and purple tones lit up by fiery orange pistils. Under a lamp the trichome layer looks like crushed glass, which tells you a lot about the potency waiting inside.
Indoors the plants stay between 100–150 cm (39–59 in) and can return up to 650 g/m² (2.13 oz/ft²) after 65–70 days of bloom. Planted outside in a warm, sunny spot, they climb to about 250 cm (98 in) and can produce up to 1,500 g per plant (52.9 oz/plant), ready in the second to third week of October.
Bruce Banner Lineage: Strawberry Diesel Meets OG Kush
The Strawberry Diesel side brings the fruit, the fuel and much of the Sativa drive. It is responsible for the bright, upbeat head change and for the sweet berry note that floats over the gas. OG Kush supplies the backbone: dense flower structure, earthy depth and the sticky resin that has made Kush genetics a staple of American breeding.
Barney’s Farm stabilized the cross as a feminized line, so growers get female plants with a fairly consistent expression of both parents. The result leans Sativa in vigor and effect while keeping the bud density and weight of its Kush half.
Bruce Banner Aroma, Flavor and Effect
Open a jar and the first thing that hits is diesel and damp earth, followed by a gentle sweetness and a ripe strawberry edge. The smoke shifts toward citrus, with tangy lemon cutting through sweet fruit, fuel and soil. It tastes a bit like eating strawberries on the tailgate of a pickup that just filled up at the pump: sweet, sharp and a little dirty in a good way.
The onset is quick. A bright, cerebral lift arrives first and tends to push mood, ideas and conversation forward. Barney’s Farm lists the effects as relaxing, cerebral, uplifting and creative, and that order makes sense in practice: the headspace leads, and a smooth wave of physical ease follows without pinning anyone to the sofa.
Growing Bruce Banner Indoors and Outdoors
Bruce Banner is resilient and adaptable, but it needs room to stretch. Indoors, top the main stem once or twice during veg and spread the branches with LST or a SCROG net so the canopy stays inside the 100–150 cm (39–59 in) range. Good airflow between the dense colas is a must during the last weeks of bloom.
Flowering takes 65–70 days after the switch to 12/12. Plants that are fed steadily and trained into an even canopy can reach the breeder figure of 650 g/m² (2.13 oz/ft²). Expect strong odor in late flower, so a carbon filter is worth having.
Outdoors, the strain prefers warm, sunny climates similar to its Kush roots. Give it a large container or open ground and plenty of space, and it can reach about 250 cm (98 in) with up to 1,500 g (52.9 oz) per plant. In the Northern Hemisphere, harvest lands in the second to third week of October.
