Dutch Passion

What Is Dutch Passion?

Dutch Passion is one of the oldest cannabis seed companies still in business. Its founder, Henk van Dalen, started growing and crossing plants in Holland in the 1970s, using seeds from imported Thai and Nigerian cannabis, and the company was formally established in Amsterdam in 1987. Decades later, it is still one of the few original Dutch seed banks breeding and releasing its own genetics.

Many of the names you see on menus today started out in the Dutch Passion catalog. White Widow, Blueberry, Skunk #11, Power Plant and Mazar became household names, and plenty of newer breeders have built their own lines on top of these classics.

The Company That Brought Feminized Seeds to Growers

In the 1990s Dutch Passion introduced feminized seeds, a breakthrough that changed home growing: no more males to cull, no mother plants to maintain and no wasted space. Today almost every seed bank sells feminized seeds, but Dutch Passion was there first. Later, the company invested heavily in feminized autoflowers, and its autos are now some of its most popular strains.

Even so, Dutch Passion still keeps part of its collection in regular seeds for growers who like to select mothers, keep males and make crosses of their own.
